This is a compilation of four photos, taking in the view from Vraca. a Serb-held part of Sarajevo. Covering about 45˚, from the north-west to the north, it spans from Hrasno on the left to Grbavica on the right. The yellow-coloured high-rise blocks are in Serb territory; the tall blackened buildings beyond stand along Sniper Alley in Bosnian Muslim territory. Various landmarks can be seen: the tall factory chimney marks the Vaso Miskin-Crni (VMC) railway workshop, the Holy Trinity Church on Vojvode Putnika Radomira (Sniper Alley), and the blackened and badly damaged Elektroprivreda building. The Siege of Sarajevo was the longest of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. After being initially besieged by the forces of the Yugoslav People's Army, Sarajevo was besieged by the Army of Republika Srpska from 5th April 1992 to 29th February 1996 (1, 425 days) during the Bosnian War. In total, 13, 952 people were killed during the siege.
