The Al Tayebat International City Museum (Tayebat Museum) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a massive private cultural complex housing over 300, 000 artifacts across 12 traditional Hijazi-style buildings. It offers an immersive journey through 25 centuries of history, showcasing Saudi heritage, pre-Islamic antiquities, Islamic manuscripts, and antique tribal costumes. Architecture : constructed using Red Sea coral stone, the museum mimics the historical multi-story homes of old Jeddah. Vast Scale : the complex spans 10, 000 square meters and features around 365 rooms, symbolically representing every day of the year. Exhibits : the displays are spread across four floors, covering Saudi heritage, Islamic art, early scientific tools, ancient coins, weapons, and a replica of the Kaaba. Traditional Hijazi architecture is a distinct, climate-adapted building style native to Saudi Arabia’s western Red Sea region. Its most iconic feature is the Rawashin - intricate, projecting wooden lattice windows (often known as mashrabiyas) that allow cooling sea breezes to circulate while strictly maintaining household privacy.
