A man dressed in the Spider-man costume climbs up the Canton Tower to propose to his girlfriend in Guangzhou city, south China's Guangdong province, 20 May 2015. A man dressed up as Spider-Man in order to propose to a woman he has been dating online. The costumed suitor, Huang Yongyu, was spotted climbing up a landmark building in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province on May 20, reported the Chinese language Jinghua.cn. The man explained he met the love of his life via a dating app a year ago. After being in a long distance relationship for six months, he decided to pop the question. Although the two have never actually met in real life, Huang is certain of his feelings. He traveled to Guangzhou where his beloved lives to propose to her on May 20 which is known as the "I Love You" Day in China. (The pronunciation of "520" sounds like "I love you" in Chinese.) Huang who was seen carrying a heart-shaped sign said he wants 520 strangers to give him their blessings by signing it. He plans to give the card to his girlfriend when they meet. As Huang's girlfriend's username is Mary, he thought that wearing a Spidey costume would be a nice touch with Mary Jane being the love interest of the superhero. He even plans to start his proposal with a well-known Spider-Man quote: "With great power comes great responsibility." "I do not have the ability to protect mankind like Spider-Man, but I would protect you with my life, Mary. Marry me!" he said while reading his proposal speech to reporters.
