Francesinha is shaped like a sandwich and consists of sausage, fresh sausage, ham, cold meats and beef steak, covered with melted cheese. It is garnished with a sauce based on tomato, beer and chilli. The side dishes of fried egg (on top of the sandwich) and french fries are optional. It was considered by a North American mega site as one of the 10 best sandwiches in the world. Its creation has popular roots and many stories revolve around this snack. Its creation is attributed to Daniel David Silva, who after being emigrated, started making this famous snack in the city of Porto around 1953. The name Francesinha, the story goes, is due to the fact that Daniel David Silva states that "The most spicy woman I know is the French woman". In 1963 an employee who worked at the restaurant where this dish began to be made, left with the sauce secret to another restaurant, thus beginning the expansion of Francesinha's gastronomic creation. Nowadays this dish is made in different ways, with other types of food ... but always covered with a lot of cheese and the famous sauce (with piripiri or without it).
