. The sightseeing boat River Duchess cruises along the River Ouse through central York, carrying passengers past riverside buildings. City Cruises branding is visible on the vessel, which provides tourist trips through the historic city by water. River cruises offer visitors a different view of York’s medieval core, bridges, flood defences and riverside development. The Ouse has always been central to the city’s geography and commercial history, although it is also known for regular flooding. Sightseeing boats now turn that historic waterway into part of the modern visitor economy, complementing walking tours, museums and heritage attractions. River Duchess is photographed broadside with passengers visible on the open and enclosed decks, while former industrial and commercial buildings line the river behind. York's rivers give the city both attraction and risk: the same Ouse that supports leisure cruises regularly rises during periods of heavy rainfall. Boat tours therefore sit within a landscape shaped by navigation, flood management and centuries of settlement beside the water. Boat operators depend on river conditions, seasonal visitor numbers and access to landing stages, making tourism directly sensitive to weather and water levels. York's visitor economy is unusually concentrated, so attractions that spread people along the river can complement heavily crowded pedestrian areas around the Minster and Shambles. The identifiable setting is River Ouse, York city centre, North Yorkshire, England, UK, where the visible architecture, signs and public access place the main subject in its normal physical context. The boat is shown within the river landscape that forms the basis of the sightseeing experience. The setting remains clearly identifiable. The main subject is shown in normal public use. Visible surroundings retain the location context. Location context is visible.
