The Countess of Dartmouth, well-known as a campaigner for better public hygiene, is pictured as she tries out a disposable plastic cup at the Westward Bar and Buffet at Paddington Station. The cone-shaped cup is designed so that it engages in a re-usable holder without being touched by hand. After use, the cup is destroyed. Along with the cup go a disposable stirrer, a disposable drip mat, and a plastic-coated disposable plate. About 400, 000 of them have been used in preliminary experiments at Paddington. They have been so successful that the cups are to be introduced at other stations, and they will be in use at 50 stations in many parts of the country by the end of 1966.
