Volcanic scoria is a type of volcanic rock that is formed during explosive volcanic eruptions. It is a dark, porous material with a spongy texture, and it's commonly referred to as "cinder" or "lava rock." Scoria is usually black or reddish-brown in color and has a rough surface due to the numerous holes created by escaping gases during the eruption. Scoria can be found in various shapes and sizes, from small fragments to large boulders. It's commonly used in landscaping as a decorative rock due to its unique appearance, and it's also used as a lightweight aggregate in construction. Scoria is a fascinating geological material that offers a glimpse into the violent forces of nature that shape our planet.
