The Cetacea lab is a non-profit organization devoted to the study and preservations of whales in the Great Bear waters. This remote whale research station was built on the southwest end of Gil Island within Gitga'at territory. Whales in the local area are monitored via a hydrophone network as well as visually, using a lot of volunteer labor. One of the volunteers is looking for whales through a spotting scope in this image.
