--FILE--A Nissan Infiniti QX50 is displayed during the 12th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition, known as Auto Guangzhou 2014, in Guangzhou city, south Chinas Guangdong province, 21 November 2014. The new head of Nissan Motor Co.¯s luxury division, Infiniti, said Thursday (26 February 2015) that he would focus on improving customer service in a bid to close the yawning gap with the German premium brands that dominate the segment. Roland Krueger, who took over as Infiniti president on Jan. 1, is the fourth executive to lead the brand in less than a yearªa mark of the challenges facing the unit as it tries to catch up with BMW AG, Volkswagen AG¯s Audi and Daimler AG¯s Mercedes-Benz. Infiniti also trails a Japanese rival, Toyota Motor Corp.¯s Lexus, and faces new competition from upstarts such as Tesla Motors Inc. as well as resurgent luxury-car makers like Jaguar Land Rover. Infiniti faces a particular challenge in China, where the pace of vehicle sales growth is slowing as the economy cools, although China is still set to become the biggest luxury car market globally. Infiniti sales grew 75.6% in China last year to 30, 000 vehicles, but that was well off Infiniti¯s target of 100, 000 by 2018ªa goal that Mr. Krueger declined to endorse.
