Weitere Informationen:
Puebla The city of Puebla, formerly Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza for the famous Mexican general associated with the battle of Cinco de Mayo, is the capital of the state of Puebla, and one of the five most important Spanish colonial cities in Mexico. It was founded in 1531 by the Spaniards & has no earlier indigenous roots. Because of its history and architectural styles ranging from Renaissance to Mexican Baroque to a florid Belle epoch French classicism favored by late nineteenth century president Porfirio Diaz, the city was named a World Heritage Site in 1987. The city is also famous for mole poblano, chiles en nogada and Talavera pottery. However, most of its economy is based on industry. Puebla has one of the world's largest Volkswagen factories outside of Germany. As a result, many suppliers have opened factories in the city & it’s gritty depressing outskirts are almost purely industrial. (text condensed & edited by the photographer from Wikipedia)
