Flight Lieutenant Bobby Moore was the 2007 RAF Tucano display pilot. A NORTH Yorkshire pilot is flying high after being selected to demonstrate one of the RAF’s most agile planes at air shows this summer. (2007) Flight Lieutenant Bobby Moore, 31, who lives in York, will represent RAF Linton-on-Ouse flying the base’s Tucano aircraft at over 40 events, including the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford and the Yorkshire Air Museum show at Elvington. Since December Flt Lt Moore has designed and perfected his aerobatic display which includes stomach churning ‘6g’ manoeuvres – three times the force experienced on a roller coaster ride. Flt Lt Moore, an instructor with 72 Squadron, teaches fast jet pilots for the RAF. He says being nominated is a ‘great privilege’ adding “In pure flying terms, this has to be the highlight of my career to date.” It may seem a glamorous way to spend the summer but for Flt Lt Moore the display season - which runs from May to October – will mean a seven-day working week. Monday to Friday on his day job and weekends spent up and down the country performing for the public.
