This photo is from an old, giant oak tree and measure a circumference of some 6 meter. It is supposed to have an age of some 350 - 450 years. This particular oak is the so-called "Savings Bank Oak", which by the end of the 19th century became the symbol of the Danish and other Scandinavian savings banks. It stands at a graveyard about 1 kilometer from Holsteinborg Manor, Southern Zealand, Denmark. As a symbol the oak tree shape became and still is the logo of many of these savings banks. Today the tree stands out naked, without leaves and the bark, where not rotten away or jabbed up by woodpeckers, is no more connected to the tree trunk and stands like a hollow holster.
